How the daily 4-letter puzzle works
Every day at midnight Eastern Time a new four-letter word appears. You have six guesses; the tiles turn green, yellow or gray to show how close you are. Everybody who plays that day gets the same word, so you can share your grid without giving anything away and see who needed fewer tries.
Win on consecutive days and your streak grows; miss a day and it starts again. The puzzles come from a fixed list of 1,386 common words, about 3 years of puzzles without a repeat, and every past day stays in the 4-letter archive.
Four letters, one shot a day
Four-letter words look simple, but a daily puzzle has no second round to fall back on. The usual trap is a word family like bail, fail, hail, mail, nail, pail, rail and sail. When several words fit, spend a guess that tests their first letters together instead of trying them one by one.

Yes. Every player worldwide gets the same four-letter word on the same day, whatever spelling (US, UK, Canada, Australia) they use.
I missed yesterday. Can I still play it?
Yes, from the archive: each past puzzle has a Play button. It does not count toward your daily streak.
How do I share my result?
